Eligibility Requirements for CSP Certification
To become a qualified CSP, candidates must meet specific requirements set by BCSP, including:
- Basic Education: Possess a bachelor’s degree in any field.
- Work Experience: Have at least four (4) years of professional experience in safety, health, and environmental duties.
- BCSP Approved Credentials: Hold one of the following BCSP-approved credentials:
- Associate Safety Professional (ASP)
- Graduate Safety Practitioner (GSP)
- Transitional Safety Practitioner (TSP)
- Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
- Chartered Member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (CMIOSH)

CSP Application Process
Once you meet the eligibility requirements, you can start the CSP application process by registering on the BCSP website and submitting your application along with the required fee. Upon approval by BCSP, you will have the opportunity to purchase the exam within one (1) year. The CSP exam is conducted at various locations worldwide through Pearson VUE, BCSP’s partner for administering computer-based certification exams.
CSP Examination Blueprint
The CSP exam consists of nine domains covering various aspects of safety and its management. Each domain is assigned a percentage reflecting its importance in the examination, ensuring candidates are thoroughly tested on their expertise in safety, health, and environmental principles and practices.
About the CSP Examination
Preparation is key to passing the CSP exam, which consists of 200 multiple-choice questions to be completed in 5.5 hours. To receive your final exam score, you must attempt 175 questions, with the remaining 25 questions being mandatory and ungraded for statistical purposes. The passing score for the CSP exam is 105 or above out of 175 questions.

Upon successfully passing the exam, you will be awarded the prestigious CSP certification, recognized globally for your commitment to safety and health. Your name and designation as a CSP credential holder will be listed in the BCSP Credential Holder Directory, and you will receive digital badges to showcase your accomplishment.
